Six months later, I read a post about keyword research and SEO. As the content and idea are promising, I continue my online journey again. I decided to open a blog. I find a domain name that I think good and started blogging using some keyword research technique. The first month I only got USD 10 from Adsense and that is better than what I imagine. At least I see the correct path. Month after month, my revenue keeps increasing. The secret is simple. Do proper keyword research.

The formula is simple but effective. Keyword research plays significant role in having a success website. Sometimes you can write a really amazing content, but good content without readers is meaningless. That’s why keyword research is important to get significant amount of traffic from the major search engines. Furthermore, traffics from search engines are highly targeted and can easily increase Adsense click through rate.
By doing proper keyword research and on page optimization, till today I manage to get average 700 daily unique visitors and around 5 percent Adsense clickthrough for my personal blog. I believe audience level of IT education is another important factor that affect click through rate (CTR). Readers that have significant knowledge of Adsense usually are ads blind. They tend to not click Adsense ads unless the advertisement is really important to them.
Based on my experience, I can conclude that:
Contents that are not targeting blogger + SEO = High Adsense CTR
Let me give you some conclusion…
Let say you can find a keyword that bring 1000 visits per month. If the keyword can give 5 percent Adsense CTR and each click costs around USD 0.20, that means you already have USD 10 in your Adsense account at the end of the month.
If you want to earn USD 100 per month by Adsense, you just need to have 10 keywords like that on your site.
In other words, as long as you know the secret of keyword research, just having 10 pages in a site is actually enough to earn USD 100 per month by Adsense.

Okay, now we know that keyword research is important to squeeze some money from your blog. However how to do it the right way?
In this guide I will clearly explain all steps needed to find the gold mine keywords. Please read it carefully so that you are not missing any important step.
The very first step in doing keyword research is to find a keyword that has significant amount of traffics from the search engine. This data can be obtained by using Google Adwords Keyword tool.
Furthermore, the tool also list down other related keywords along with the keyword that you enter. You can manually filter the keywords that have good number of organic traffics and make blog posts about them.
But wait a minute…
The dream to see traffic come from the search engine might be hopeless if the targeted keyword has too much competition. So make sure you check the overall competition for a keyword before optimizing it. Overall competitions can be checked by typing the keyword on Google search. I will consider a keyword as less competitive if the overall results are less than 1 million.
But wait a minute…
Although the competition is small, the dream to see traffic flow from the search engine might never become true if the competitors on the first page have too many backlinks.
Remember, backlink is really important as the number of backlinks that point to a blog post is the key factor that determined how much the blog post is relevant for the keyword. For this purpose, I use SEO SpyGlass to analyze the backlinks for each of the competitors that sit on the first page. If their backlinks are less than 30, I will consider the keyword as suitable for optimization. Otherwise, I will forget the keyword as I need to spend a lot of time in creating quality backlinks in order to dominate Google search.

Now you know how I am able to squeeze some money from a personal blog without neither loyal readers nor commentators. But am I still doing those methods in finding the golden mine?The answer is NO.

That is because every site on the top ten results for the keyword has high authority on Google’s eyes. See the picture below to have better view about the websites that appear on the top ten results. Unless you do great job of link building, there is no way you can beat authority website such as Wikipedia and PC World for keyword ‘tablet laptop’.
You should be lucky to have Niche Finder as you can foresee how hard it is to compete on a keyword although the backlinks and overall results are not that much.
